On the first Solstice after the Klondike Gold Rush, the town climbed to the top of the what they now call Midnight Dome to see the sun set at midnight. Much to everyone's disapointment, the sun set about 11:30 and rose again about 2:00.
But they still call it Midnight Dome. And you get a great view of Dawson and the Yukon River.
